On Saturday, June 8, 2024, The Glen Cove Rotary held its second Pickleball Tournament to support Cove Animal Rescue. It was a two, “Change Partner” Tournament, a morning session and an afternoon session. Participants were grouped by ability to play, from beginners to advanced. Participation was incredible, and some participants played in both sessions.
The tournament was held at Stanco Park in Glen Cove. It was a beautiful, sunny day, which inspired an impressive turnout. Participants came to the event to play, but many others attended to watch and cheer. Diane Connolly of Cove Animal Rescue, brought dogs and puppies that are ready to be adopting and waiting to find homes.
Pickleball has become very popular in the city of Glen Cove and surrounding towns. People play indoors at the YMCA and outdoors at Stanco Park. The Pickleball Tournament was amazing. The fundraiser was a huge success and all participants and attendees enjoyed themselves.
Congratulations to the winners: Izzy Weintraub, Sarah Swainston, Shane Dommin, Anthony Capobianco, Gary Simeone, Rose Mary DiLascio, Mike Lum, Demi Lee, Chris Berenson, Patty Murphy, Justin Zapata, Mimi Trotta, Alison Camardella (singles playoff w/Dawn Loveland), Matt Camardella, Dieu Cai-Hsiu, Mike Meehan, Patrick Vissichelli, Sharon Tiberia, John Rebecchi, Anna Luterek, Adam DelValle, Jamie Corn, Trish Gesuale and Wendy Trunz (her 1st Tournament!) .
