Sandwiched In with Eco-Photo Explorers- Pirates, Ghost Ships, and Seafaring Superstitions

12:00 p.m. – 1:30 p.m. (Port Washington Library, Lapham Room) Join Eco-Photo Explorers for a fun-filled program as they tell the real stories of pirates, buccaneers, and privateers and examine the mysteries of some of the most famous ghost ships of all time. Along the way, many of the superstitions of the sea will also be discussed. Sponsored by the Library’s Nautical Advisory Council.

Microsoft Word Basics for the Perplexed

2:30 p.m. (Port Washington Library, Hagedorn Room) Learn Microsoft Word basics such as editing and making a document in this slow-paced, educational workshop. Chromebooks will be available for use. Register at PWPL.org

Port Washington Community Band

8:00 p.m. – 10 p.m. (Sousa Bandshell, 329 Main Street) The Sousa Bandshell is hosting the Port Washington Community Band.

Port Washington Farmer’s Marker

8 a.m.-12 p.m. (Town Dock, 347 Main St.) All-organic farmers’ market that offers produce, artisanal food products and a café.

Guided Nature Walk

10- 11:30 a.m. (Sands Point Preserve Conservancy, 127 Middle Neck Rd.) Series of all-ages walks as to explore different aspects of the preserve’s environment, encompassing its unique physical features and wildlife, as well as critical conservation issues and helpful practices to create a healthy, sustainable environment. Saturday’s theme is Summer at the Sea. Led by expert guide environmental educator Hildur Palsdottir.

SoundSwap: LocoMojo Band

3:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Sousa Bandshell, 329 Main St.) LocoMojo is not your ordinary band – their live sets are a special experience. They serve up fresh selections designed to entertain and engage the audience. The show is a celebration of music to lift the spirits and ensure the audience doesn’t forget who they have just had the pleasure of listening to.

Tramps Like Us Tribute Band

7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. (Manorhaven Park, 158 Manorhaven Blvd.) Tramps Like Us brings 32 years of road-tested musicianship that have won this band the hard-earned distinction of the planet’s most revered Bruce Springsteen Tribute band. This concert is free.

Larger Than Life Concert

7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. (North Hempstead Beach Park, 175 W Shore Rd.) Larger Than Life is known as the #1 Boyband experience in the country. This is the only act of its kind to have been on tour with *NSYNC, O-Town, 98 Degrees, LFO, TKA, and more. Featuring actual boyband-style singing, dancing, and that iconic pop look. This is not a jam band, not a musical parody, but a real nostalgic concert experience.

Funday Monday

11 a.m.- 2 p.m. (North Hempstead Beach Park, 175 W Shore Rd.) North Hempstead presents Funday Monday for senior residents. On July 29, the town will present a Resource Fair, sponsored by Northwell Health and The Something Special Big Band will perform. For more details, call 311.

Share ideas with fellow crafters, and get inspired from our collection of pattern and instruction books, generously provided by the Friends of the Library.
