Alper’s Hardware will host its annual Alper’s Karmacue, which benefits the Port Washington Community Chest, on Sunday, Oct. 20, from noon to 4 p.m. on Irma Avenue (off of Main Street). This community event offers food, entertainment, a cook-off, live music, crafts and more.
Hosted by Alper’s Hardware, with contributions from residents, restaurants and vendors, Karmacue’s profits benefit the Community Chest’s mission to raise funds for distribution to local charities dedicated to improving the lives of Port Washington residents. The non-profit organization’s grants support programs for senior citizens, children, teenages and others in need.
“Come on down to Alper’s Karmacue, a truly wonderful event for our community. Whether you are a BBQ enthusiast or just want to try some delicious food, there is something for everyone,” Executive Director of the Community Chest Bobby Keller said.
The main event at Alper’s Karmacue is the cook-off, where local amateur BBQ teams compete for two crowns: the People’s Choice, voted by attendees, and the prestigious Cook-Off at Karmacue Champion, voted by a panel of expert judges.

Port Washington restaurants, vendors, and organizations such as Lifestyle Café, Yummy Gyro, Smusht, Ralph’s Italian Ices, Carlo’s Pizza, Serra Provisions, PW Meat Center, Soulshine Art Studio, Bach2Rock Music School, Chuck Idol and HatTrixx are all contributing to the day’s fun.
