Upon learning that, for the duration of the U.S. Open, the Long Island Rail Road parking lot in Farmingdale was going to be closed to the people who pay to park there so as to allow the people from the U.S. Open to park, I wrote a letter complaining that the people traveling to Bethpage for the Open are more important to the Village of Farmingdale than the people who live in the area and pay for the “privilege” of parking near the train station. The response I received in no way addressed my concerns.
First, I would have to say that even golf lovers would not be so enamored of the sport as to allow themselves to be ripped off. We pay for parking. You are taking it away from us. You owe us for the time lost. Even the mayor should realize the village is in breach of its implied contract with the people who are paying to park at the station. Secondly, yes my commute is difficult and time consuming. But, that does not give you the right to make it longer and more difficult.
Like most politicians on Long Island, you have no clue and don’t care to learn. That is the reason so many people are leaving Long Island.
