6th Annual Heart & Sole 5K Run/Walk Set for July 12

Local runners, walkers and wheelchair athletes are cordially invited to join in the fun on Sunday, July 12, for the 6th Annual Heart & Sole 5 Kilometer Run/Walk. The event will once again be starting and finishing at the Plainview-Old Bethpage Middle School, on Central Park Road and Southern Parkway in Plainview, with the starting horn sounding at 9 a.m.

The net proceeds of the 2009 event will go to benefit the Plainview/Syosset Scholarship Fund for local students considering a career in a medically related field, and to support emergency facilities at Plainview and Syosset Hospitals to better serve patients. Dr. Alan Mensch, senior vice president of medical affairs for Plainview and Syosset Hospitals, will serve as the director of the event, and race management will be by the Greater Long Island Running Club (GLIRC), with J.P. Latkovic of TriandDuIt Multisport handling the finish line timing and scoring chores using the “AMB” computerized timing system.

The event features a nice, flat USATF certified course, awards three deep in five year age groups, high quality technicalshirts to all entrants, ample post-race refreshments, generous post-race door prizes – all the trimmings for a great morning of fun on the roads of Plainview!

The key sponsors of this year’s Heart & Sole 5 Kilometer Run are Syosset dentist Dr. Howard Matt, Alure Home Improvements, Axis Construction Corporation, Huntington Hills Center for Health & Rehabilitation and the Medical Staffs of Plainview and Syosset Hospitals.
