Obituary: Alvira T. Sprague

Alvira T. Sprague, formerly of Locust Valley and Glen Cove., passed away very peacefully on June 26, 2009. Widow of the late Walter R. Sprague. The family believes she may have been the oldest living Girl Scout, joining in 1920 and achieving Golden Eaglette in 1928. She would have been 103 years old on Aug. 21. She is survived by son Richard (Denise); daughter Dr. Carol Savage (Steven); grandchildren Richie, 1st Lt. Carolyn and 1st Lt. Michael Blue, Matthew, Lcpl. Andrew; and great-grandson Connor and his mother, Grace. Visiting and service at the Dodge-Thomas Funeral Home, Glen Cove. Interment Locust Valley Cemetery.
