Classic Rock ‘N Roll Performance

Civil War Re-Enactment
Union and Confederate troops will re-enact a skirmish during the fierce Battle of Second Bull Run (1862) at Old Bethpage Village Restoration, Round Swamp Rd., Old Bethpage, on July 18 and 19 from 11 a.m. to noon and 2:30 to 3:30 p.m., involving Union infantry forces pursuing the rebels. OBVR presents a vivid portrait of the Civil War period in the Virginia countryside. Volunteers for both armies will demonstrate military drills, musket firing and other camp duties. Additional activities include fiddle music from noon to 4 p.m. each day. The event is co-hosted by a number of historical organizations dedicated to the preservation of Civil War history, including: Company H, 119th New York Volunteer Historical Association; the Fourteenth Brooklyn Regiment, N.Y.S.M., Co. E; the 9th Virginia Infantry Association; the 57th Virginia Infantry Association; and the 30th Virginia Infantry. Call 572-0200.

Tour of Shelter Island
The Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library, 999 Old Country Rd., offers a ferry and tour of Shelter Island at 9:30 a.m. The $69 per person cost includes a full course lunch at Spinnaker’s Restaurant, time on your own in Sag Harbor and round trip transportation by luxury bus. The Hicksville United Methodist Church, 130 W. Old Country Rd., Hicksville, invites children to go to the edge this summer at Camp E.D.G.E. (Experience and Discover God Everywhere). On Aug. 27 at 10 a.m., the Plainview-Old Bethpage Public Library offers a trip to the Gateway Playhouse. The $88 per person cost includes a full course lunch at the Bellport Country Club, a ticket to the Gateway Playhouse matinee production of Dirty Rotten Scoundrels and round trip transportation by luxury bus. Call For Craft Vendors
Mill Neck Manor is calling for vendors of handmade items for its Annual Fall Harvest Festival, held on Oct. 10 and 11, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A favorite tradition on LI, visitors eagerly await the festival for its crafts, apples, pumpkins, pies and other delicious treats. Country crafts, offering handmade items and holiday gifts, are one of the festival’s main features. If you make or sell crafts and feel that you would be a great addition to the Festival, you are encouraged to apply. Vendors are assigned an outdoor space (10’x10’) with a table and two chairs. All vendors are required to have a tent or canopy; those vendors who do not own a suitable tent may rent one from Mill Neck Manor for a small fee. Freeport H.S. Class of 1959 50th Reunion
Member of the Freeport High School Class of 1959 have planned a gala weekend to celebrate their 50-year reunion from Sept.11 to 13. Begins Friday night with a meeting at E.B. Elliot’s on the Nautical Mile to renew old acquaintances. Saturday will find the group at Jones Beach Field 6 or at Museum Row riding Nunley’s Carousel once more, in the bleachers at the Freeport vs. Oceanside football game or just riding around the village visiting old haunts. At 7 p.m. converge at the Freeport Yacht Club for dinner and enjoyment of music of the ‘50s. Before starting home on Sunday, groups will meet at local diners for farewells over brunch.
