Traditional 19th Century Dancing/Music
In the 19th century, a popular form of entertainment involved listening to fiddle tunes and dancing to the calls of the local dance-master. Visitors to Old Bethpage Village Restoration, Round Swamp Rd., Old Bethpage ,will be able to enjoy a re-creation of this slice of 19th-century American culture through a performance by the Old Bethpage Village Dancers. They will demonstrate such dances as the Jefferson and Liberty, the Lancer’s Quadrille and the Virginia Reel. The group will be called by accomplished dance-master Chart Guthrie. The event will take place in the Noon Inn PicNic Grove, with three performances at 1:30, 2:30 and 3:30 p.m.Call 572-0200.

Lutheran Schools Association Golf Outing
Several members from Good Shepherd Church in Plainview will tee-off for a full day of fun with members of other Lutheran churches in their annual golf outing which will be played at the Oyster Bay Golf Course, Woodbury. Volunteers Needed
The Mill Neck Family of Organizations is seeking volunteers to work at food sales, children’s activities, apple booths and more during the Fall Harvest Festival to be held on Oct. 10 and 11. The outdoor festival, known as “Apple Sale,” features a wide variety of apples and seasonable produce, craft items, a Cheese House, deaf specialty items and much more. Volunteer support from local civic and church groups, students, alumni, staff, parents and faithful supporters, have made this a special and memorable event. Volunteers can work from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m., 12:30 to 5 p.m. or all day. Food tickets will be provided for all volunteers who work four or more hours. This year, the Mill Neck Family will host a “Kick-Off Breakfast for Volunteers” on Oct. 3 from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Deaf Education Center. Open to all 2009 volunteers ages 16 and over, the event will feature a delicious continental breakfast, an orientation and a long-time volunteer recognition ceremony. Have a fond Fall Harvest Memory? Freeport H.S. Class of 1959 50th Reunion
Member of the Freeport High School Class of 1959 have planned a gala weekend to celebrate their 50-year reunion from Sept. 11 to 13. Begins Friday night with a meeting at E.B. Elliot’s on the Nautical Mile to renew old acquaintances. Saturday will find the group at Jones Beach Field 6 or at Museum Row riding Nunley’s Carousel once more, in the bleachers at the Freeport vs. Oceanside football game or just riding around the village visiting old haunts. At 7 p.m. converge at the Freeport Yacht Club for dinner and enjoyment of music of the ‘50s. Before starting home on Sunday, groups will meet at local diners for farewells over brunch.
