Jessica Craft Knows Oyster Bay

“This is a picture of the memorial bench in the Theodore Roosevelt park. It is a beautiful bench,” said Jessica Craft in an email, identifying the Sept. 10 mystery photo.

Billy Minicozzi called to identify the picture in the Sept. 10 issue of the Enterprise Pilot. He said, “It’s a bench by the flagpole at TR Park.”

The bench is inscribed on a bronze plaque: “Salvatore Stellaccio; Loved & Missed by All” 1952-2008.

Leven Ashby of Hampton, VA, a member of the OBHS Class of 1954, sent an email responding to the Sept. 4 photograph seen on the Internet version of the Enterprise Pilot. He wrote:

“It is the Seawall at TR Memorial Park. I was in the park for the first time in 54 years this past July 30. I was looking forward to taking in the Railroad Museum, but it was closed. However I did visit Planting Fields and my old neighborhood, Lake Avenue.

“The Coe Estate and the surrounding woods were the places that we kids from Lake Avenue, in the late ’40s and early ’50s would explore.

“Oh!, during high school in the spring and summer, my friends and I would hang out in TR Park on a daily basis,” he ended.

It’s great to hear from friends on the Internet. Let’s keep connected.
