Who in their right mind would vote to dissolve the Village of Garden City in favor of the county government? We are considered one of the most desirable places to live on Long Island.
Our status as a village allowed that to happen. We have control and we have excellent services. Perhaps some of us take that for granted, but we enjoy it and you’ll definitely miss it when it’s gone.
The only reason the county would want to gain control of a village like Garden City is to take our tax revenue, cut services, and spend that money elsewhere in the county. If we were a financial burden, they wouldn’t want anything to do with us.
My point is, if you don’t like the quality of life in Garden City, or you don’t want to pay for it then move somewhere else. Leave Garden City just the way it is.
