Shane Giannetti has signed a Letter of Intent to compete as part of the William Jewell College men’s tennis program in the fall of 2010. A native of Oyster Bay, Giannetti is currently ranked 162nd in the nation and 16th in the state of New York, according to www.tennisrecruiting.net.
Jewell head coach Paul Worstell is thrilled about Giannetti’s arrival. “We are extremely excited to have Shane join our program,” said Worstell. “In my five years of coaching at William Jewell, he is the highest ranked recruit that we have signed and there were several NCAA Division I schools interested in him as well. I believe Shane will come in and have an immediate impact on our men’s team.”
In addition to his four-star recruit status on www.tennisrecruiting.net, Giannetti has also garnered All-County and All-State honors during his high school tennis career. Giannetti has also been successful in the classroom at Oyster Bay High School, as he has been named to the honor roll every marking period while attending Oyster Bay High.
Giannetti plans to study in William Jewell’s Premedical Advisory Program and will also pursue William Jewell’s Oxbridge Honors Program. The Oxbridge Honors Program is the only program in the United States offering a full curriculum of tutorial-based instruction in conjunction with a year of study in England.
