Dr. Murray Postal
Dr. Murray Postal, known as “a man for all seasons,” died at his home in Delray Beach, FL, on Dec. 2, 2009. He was 89 years old.
Dr. Postal was born in Brooklyn on May 20, 1920. He received his BS from Brooklyn College where he was a five-letter athlete. After his service in the U.S. Army during WWII, he received his D.D.S. from New York University in 1945. He was a much-loved dentist in Queens for 57 years. He was a WWII veteran and a Catskill mountain band leader. He continued entertaining many with his trumpet for 60-odd years. Dr. Postal had a lifelong passion for sports, winning numerous club championships in tennis and handball and multiple gold medals in NASTAR ski racing. He played tennis through his 89th year. He lived his life with great enthusiasm and joy.
He and Barbara, his wife of 56 years, were residents of New Hyde Park for 14 years and Roslyn for 37 years before finally retiring to south Florida.
An exceptionally loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and brother, he is survived by his wife Barbara; children, Linda Postal of Queens, Nancy Postal Meadow and her husband Douglas Meadow of New York City, and Dr. William Postal and his wife Dr. Karen Postal of Andover, MA. He also is survived by his five grandchildren, Maxwell and Georgia Meadow and Andrew, Robbie and Caroline Postal; his sister and brother-in-law, Jodi Taylor and Alex Ben Block; and niece Hayley Taylor Block; as well as a loving extended family and wonderful friends.
Arrangements were made by Gutterman’s Funeral Home, Woodbury. Donations can be made in his memory to Hospice of Palm Beach County, Florida.
