Nassau County Aquatic Offering Special Membership Deals

For college students from Nassau County, winter break doesn’t have to mean a month of inactivity. The Nassau County Aquatic Center is offering residents who are college students the opportunity to swim and work out through a short-term winter break membership, announced Nassau County Executive Thomas R. Suozzi.

Through Jan. 31, 2010, the “College Total Health Pass” provides students with unlimited access to the Olympic-size swimming pool and the state-of-the-art fitness center overlooking the pool, for a fee of only $35. A valid college I.D. is required for the College Total Health Pass, plus a Nassau County Leisure Pass. If a student does not have a Leisure Pass, one can be purchased for $25. The Leisure Pass, available only to Nassau County residents, is good for three years.

Centrally located in Eisenhower Park on Merrick Avenue in East Meadow, the Nassau County Aquatic Center is one of the premier swimming facilities in the country. Built in 1998 for the Goodwill Games, it serves the general public as well as competitive swimmers. The Aquatic Center regularly hosts college and local high school competitive swimming and diving meets and has hosted scores of Olympians, including Michael Phelps.

The Aquatic Center is open seven days a week, but will be closed Dec. 25 and Jan. 1. For more information, call 572-0501.
