The sixth, seventh and eighth grade physical education classes at St. Ignatius Loyola School recently concluded their flag football unit. All of the students learned the basic skills of football and competed in games during their physical education classes.
The unit culminated in class play-offs and a super game. After the final whistle blew, the following winners were declared:
Sixth grade: The Steelers, including Captain Justin Rodriguez, Curtis Allen, William Burdo, Jared Estrada, Catherine Kilada, Connor Klein, Regina Lacsa and Katelyn Tuzzol.
Seventh grade; The Giants, including Captain Caleb Sims, Jashaun Allen, Ariana Catania, John Matthew Coppola, Julio Escobar, Stephanie Joseph, Nicole Ki, Janine Meurer and Tamarra Segers.
8-1: The Saints, including Captain Liam Flanagan, Chelsea Alamo, William Escobar, Scott Gilroy, Mackenzie Klein, David Lavan, Joseph Mathews and Clarisa Perez-Benitez
8-2: The Giants, including Captain Larry Schembri, Michael Crayne, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Kelly Kim, Joseph Oddo, Heidy Taza and Zachary Wimbiscus.
The winning team in each grade was rewarded with a special dress-down physical education day. Congratulations to these teams and kudos to all of the students who gave 100 percent effort as they learned the rules and skills of the game of football.
