On Saturday, Feb. 6 at 1 p.m., a select team of Garden City teachers will tip off against the Harlem Wizards in a very entertaining basketball rematch.
The Garden City team will include Michelle Abatemarco, Samantha Bennett, Laura Burke, Jen Solano and Donna Welch from the Homestead School; Mike Caparella, Tania Polanco and Linda Polant from Hemlock/Locust Schools; Michelle Ciquera and Mary Freese from Stratford School; and Brad Hepworth from the High School. More names will be added to the roster as they are announced. Stewart School Principal Linda Norton will serve as referee.
This event promises to be another fun-filled afternoon. In addition to the game, there is a great half time show featuring audience participation, refreshments and souvenirs for purchase and a 50/50 raffle.
Tickets, at $10 in advance or $15 at the door, can be ordered through the fliers distributed to the primary and elementary schools or by mail. Since this event has sold out in the past, tickets may not be available at the door. To order tickets by mail, please send your name, phone number and number of tickets ordered along with a check payable to “The Garden City Student Aid and Scholarship Fund” to Marian Mancusi, 189 Wetherill Ave., Garden City, NY 11530. Tickets ordered by mail will be available for pick-up at the “will call” desk at the event.
The Garden City Student Aid and Scholarship Fund is a not-for-profit corporation that provides scholarships and loans to Garden City High School graduates. All proceeds from this event will be used to further its ability to assist deserving students to finance higher education.
