St. Patrick’s Celebration

Join ACDS (the Association for Children with Down Syndrome) from 7 to 10 p.m. for its annual St. Patrick’s Day Celebration at the Parish Center, 99 North Village Ave., Rockville Centre (Parish of St. Agnes Cathedral). Driver Improvement Course

Conducted by the AAA of NY at Four Points Sheraton Hotel, 333 S. Service Rd. The six-hour course allows participants to get the latest driving information from AAA-certified instructors, a 10 percent discount on collision and liability insurance and a reduction of up to four points from NYS driver’s license. 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; includes one hour lunch break. Family Concert of  Spectacular Sounds

The North Shore Symphony Orchestra’s Family Concert entitled “Spectacular Sounds!” will feature NSSO’s principal cellist Jeong-Yoon Park as soloist in the final movement of Elgar’s Cello Concerto and also feature award-winning music students from Plainview Old-Bethpage JFK High School. Selected woodwind and brass students from POB JFK will perform with NSSO and be featured in interactive music with the audience. NSSO will also perform Dvorak Carnival Overture, Chabrier’s Espana, excerpts from Saint-Saens Carnival of the Animals and Jupiter from Holst’s Planets. Conducted by NSSO’s Music Director and Conductor Susan Deaver, the concert will be held at 3 p.m. at Plainview-Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School, 50 Kennedy Dr. Tickets are $10 general; $8 seniors/students and will be on sale one hour prior to the performance. Call 695-4476.

•March 11: P.E.E.R Emotional Release Group. P.E.E.R. (Primary Emotional Energy Recovery) is a powerful process that helps people connect and release the emotions that are trapped within the body in order to free yourself from issues that have been blocking you from creating the life you want. Benefits include relief from old emotions, gaining essential life skills, improving your relationships, and more peace in your body and mind. 8 p.m. $40.

•March 17: Life Coaching Class. Join Dr. Michael J. Berlin, renowned healer and health educator, for an in-depth and ongoing Special Coaching and Group Facilitation Workshop that is designed to help all people gain much better mastery of their lives. This workshop is an ever-deepening discussion that deeply helps people gain the necessary life skills to create a life of authentic peace and empowerment This month’s topic is “Improving All Your Relationships.” Newcomers welcome. $20 per class (first class free). 8 to 9:30 p.m.

•March 24: Free Introduction to Resolving Stress through Network Care. Learn all about this extraordinarily gentle method that literally resolves all the stress, tension, distortions, and traumas from your body and mind. •March 25: Healing Circle encourages balance of body, mind and spirit. This is done through a natural energy healing and relaxation technique involving light touch. •Family Support Group, an ongoing support group for those who have family members or other loved ones with mental illness. Meets on Mondays from 7 to 8 p.m. at Central Nassau Guidance & Counseling Services, 950 South Oyster Bay Rd. The fee is $5 per family. In addition to verbal support, the group presents guest lecturers, workshops, education programs and holds social events. For information call 822-6111.

•Plainview-Old Bethpage Community Chorus welcomes new members. Meetings are held Monday nights at 7:30 p.m. in the choral room of POB Middle School. All voices are needed and no experience is necessary. Rehearsals run from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. For information call 931-4377 or 935-6243.

•Senior Citizen Lunch Program. Nassau County provides a lunch program for seniors 60+, who live in Nassau County. The donation is $3. The lunch is held at the Jamaica Avenue School, 85 Jamaica Ave. Reservations must be called in by Wednesday at 937-6424.

•POB Senior Citizen Club meeting from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Fridays in the All-Purpose Room at the Jamaica Avenue School, 85 Jamaica Ave. For information call 937-6424. The club offers trips, cruises, parties, social and line dancing, art courses for all levels, craft classes, card games, bingo, horseracing, yoga, education programs, etc. Members must be 60 years or older, residing in the POB S.D. are eligible. Bring school tax bill as proof of residency. Dues is $15. New members welcome.

•Meet the Doctors. Focusing on education, Premiere OBGYN will sponsor a Meet the Doctors program on the first Tuesday of each month from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at 79 Froelich Farm Blvd., Woodbury. Women who are planning a pregnancy or are already expecting can join Drs. Prince, Brooks and Flynn and have their questions answered on conception and a safe pregnancy.

•The LI Psoriasis Network Meetup Group will get together in the second floor In-Service Classroom of North Shore University at Plainview, 888 Old Country Rd., on the first Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. All are welcome. No cost. More information is available at http://psoriasis.meetup.com/24/

•Alzheimer’s Support Group. Are you a caregiver who would like to share your experience with others? There is strength in knowing you are not alone. •Vietnam Veterans of America (VVA) was founded in 1978, is congressionally chartered and exclusively dedicated to Vietnam-era veterans and their families. •Golf for Singles Adults, a group of 50 + single seniors meet the third Tuesday of every month, at 7:30 p.m. at the Holiday Inn, Sunnyside Blvd., Exit 46 off the LIE, Plainview. For info call 942-4228. The group plays on courses, mostly in Suffolk on the weekends as well as during the week.

•Italian Culture Society at Farmingdale meets the last Tuesday of every month at 7:30 p.m. at Ellsworth W. Allen Park, Motor Ave. Italian lessons are given by a native Italian teacher. •Central Oyster Bay Democratic Club meets on the second Wednesday of each month at 7:30 p.m. in the community room at the Nutty Irishman, 323 Main St., in the Village of Farmingdale.
