Highest Voter Turnout in 10 Years
The Garden City Village Election was held on Tuesday, March 16. Polls were open from noon until 9 p.m., as residents turned out in record numbers to elect the Community Agreement candidates over two write-in candidates, Ronald Tadross and Raymond Rudolph.
The official Village of Garden City election numbers were as follows: Trustee Donald T. Brudie: 617 (509 machine votes/23 absentee ballots/85 paper ballots); John J. Watras: 658 (521 machine votes/25 absentee ballots/112 paper ballots); Nicholas P. Episcopia: 546 (458 machine votes/25 absentee ballots/63 paper ballots); and Brian Daughney: 532 (446 machine votes/25 absentee ballots/61 paper ballots). Write-in candidates Ronald Tadross: 342 (195 machine votes/zero absentee ballots/147 paper ballots); and Raymond Rudolph: 333 (186 machine votes/zero absentee ballots/147 paper ballots).
According to Village Clerk Brian Ridgway, the village election had the strongest voter turnout in 10 years. A total of 957 residents voted. Tadross and Rudolph announced their candidacy two days before the election.
