New Hyde Park Memorial Day Parade

The Village of New Hyde Park, in conjunction with the VFW and American Legion will hold its Annual Memorial Day Parade.  The parade will assemble on Hillside Boulevard to step off at 10 a.m.  Head east on Jericho Turnpike.  Stop at New Hyde Park Village Hall, corner of New Hyde Park Road and Jericho Turnpike for a ceremony then proceed north on New Hyde Park Road to Lincoln Avenue and the New Hyde Park Village Memorial Park for the completion of the ceremonies.  

Town of North Hempstead Fire Works at Beach

The Town of North Hempstead will hold its Annual Fire Works display in a 2010 salute to veterans at North Hempstead Beach Park (formerly Bar Beach), 175 West Shore Road.  Festivities to begin at 6 p.m.  Parking fee is $5 per car.  Everyone welcome.  Park opens at 3 p.m. Nassau County Pipe band and military lead off ceremonies to honor veterans.  Following are Gabrielle Ross, Desert Highway and Tramps Like Us.  Bay fireworks will then light up the sky from barges located in Hempstead Harbor in the darkness.

Blue Angels to Hold Spectacular Air Show at Jones Beach

Bethpage Federal Credit Union, Long Island’s leading community financial institution, and the New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation will present the United States Navy Blue Angels, the renowned Navy Flight Demonstration Squadron,  The Air Show will be held Memorial Day weekend at Jones Beach State Park, Wantagh on May 29, 10 a.m. 3 p.m. and May 30 at 10 a.m. and 3 p.m..  The Air Show is free to the public, but the standard $10 vehicle use fee will be collected each day upon entry to the State Park. During the Air Show, the United States Navy Blue Angels will perform a Precision Demonstration over the Atlantic Ocean in front of the shores of Jones Beach State Park.  In addition to the hundreds of thousands of spectators expected, all branches of the military will be present including the Navy, Army, Air Force, Marines, and Coast Guard.

Memorial Day Parade in Williston Park

Williston Park VFW and American Legion will hold its Annual Memorial Day Parade.  The ceremonies will begin with a moving Everlasting Memorial Ceremony held behind the American Legion Hall.  The group will then proceed to the Williston Park Memorial Day Parade that will come down Hillside Avenue, heading west to Park Avenue, heading north and then east to Willis Avenue and up Wills to stop at village hall to place a wreath and then on to the firehouse where the parade will end with closing ceremonies.

Herricks Board Meeting Change

The Herricks school board will hold its June 3 meeting at the Center Street School instead of Herricks Community Center at 7:15 p.m. At that meeting the board will announce what it has decided to submit as a new budget for the revote of the failed election to be held on June 15.

Metropolitan Youth Orchestra to Perform at Carnegie Hall

Irish American Monthly Dance

The Irish American Society will hold a monthly dance featuring Mickey Perry’s Band to start at 8:30 p.m.  Donation is $15.  Coffee, tea and soda bread will be served and there will be an open bar available.  For further information, please call 746-9393.

MS Cocktails for A Cure Fundraiser at Walk Street

Michele Chambers and Donald Barbieri, in conjunction with the National MS Society will hold a “Cocktails for The Cure” fundraiser at Walk Street (former Henry’s Inn), 1218 Jericho Turnpike, New Hyde Park  from 4 to 7 p.m. Admission (donation) is $25 for adults; $5 for children.  Entrance fee includes food and two drink tickets.  Fundraiser to include music, food, drinks, raffles, kids tattoos.  All proceeds will help fund vital research, more effective treatments and ultimately a cure for MS.

St Aidan Summer Stage to Hold Auditions for Oklahoma

Membership Drive at Irish American Society

The Irish American Society of Nassau, Suffolk and Queens, located at 297 Willis Avenue, Mineola is hold a membership drive from 3 to 6 p.m. The finest Irish society for social events that has many ways for all ages to come and meet people of Irish birth or decent.  Come to rekindle old friendships or make new ones. Current programs and events include Irish Shows, Tea Parties, Social Gathering Mondays from12 noon to 3 p.m., Annual Fashion Show, card games on Friday nights, Donny Golden School of Dance performances Adult Ceili dance lessons, Irish football for boys and girls.  Something for everyone. New Hyde Park Village to Meet

The Village of New Hyde Park will hold its regular meeting at 8 p.m. at village hall, corner of New Hyde Park Road and Jericho Turnpike.  Please note:  New Hyde Park Village has gone into its summer schedule which only holds a meeting on the third Tuesday of every month.  The schedule of two meetings a month will resume in the fall.
