Things have been happening at the Oyster Bay Historical Society. They recently held their fantastic collaboration with the Roslyn Landmark Society – the Twinight art auction event. We hope you enjoyed seeing the pictures of the event taken by Darcy Tabako that were in the July 29 issue of the Enterprise Pilot.
For us it was “better than being there” since you could really just enjoy everything at leisure.
The OBHS is also having a change in its staffing as Thomas Kuehhas has left his post as director. As of Aug. 1, Phil Blocklyn has become the acting director.
We would like to add our vote of confidence and a hearty congratulations to the board for their choice of Phil Blocklyn.
Having already worked with Phil, we are delighted that he will be the new acting director. With Frank Leone as the new board president and with Fran Leone as 1st vice president and Yvonne Noonan-Cifarelli as 2nd vice president they have a great team in place.
Congratulations to everyone!
And a fond farewell to Thomas Kuehhas who leaves a wonderful body of work created in the many journals he produced in conjunction with his annual exhibits. If you go to the OBHS website they are still available to add to your home collection of books about Oyster Bay. They cover the many exhibits he has curated.
We will miss Mr. Kuehhas who was always ready to fill in the details if we were working on a story and in need of some historic details. Mr. Kuehhas has set the bar high and we are confident Mr. Blocklyn will continue the momentum.
We should remind you that there is another event in store for the OBHS. On Aug. 28 there will be an OBHS gala at the home of Frank and Stefanie Leone with music from Bob Merrill’s Quintet. For tickets call 922-5032. It should be another night to remember!
