The Merillon 11/12 Boys Win the District 28 Championship

On July 19th the Merillon Boys won the District 28 Championship, for the third year in a row,  in Port Washington against a very tough Port Washington team.

Jake Kennedy was the starting pitcher and he turned in a beauty with a complete game no-hitter in the 2-0 victory. It was Jakes 2nd no-hitter of the tournament. The team known for their defense did not disappoint with some great plays in the field.

With this win this group of boys become the first team in Merillon history to capture the district championship three years in a row at the 10,11 and 12 year old levels. Over that three year period the team lost only one game in district play.

With manager Louis Messina and coaches Mike Varrone, Greg Kyro and Norn Haug they have lead this team to 8 championship games and 5 championships over three years. This team is a close knit group as are the families of each of these players. This tournament ends the Little League experience for these boys but they will have memories for a life time.
