NHP Kiwanis Rangers vs. Gigi’s Pizzeria Brewers

The Nor’easter made the baseball conditions difficult on Saturday but the Brewers warmed everyone up with their dedicated play. Cenzo Montoni and Mathew Merolla started up the offense with 1 and 2 RBI’s respectively, in the first. Anthony Devito and Alfred Squicciarino added one RBI each in the fourth. Daniel Goldberg launched a double scoring two more runs to complete a four run fourth. The defense again played well. Justin Yang and Abidin Dauti played well at the corners and completed 6 to 5 and 4 to 3 put outs respectively. Darren Yang played a great first base by making two unassisted put outs. Cenzo Montoni and Matthew Merolla stopped a rally with an amazing 3 to 4 double play. Paul Depaulis was cat like behind the plate and also played well at third. Daniel Mattei and Christian Zamorra get the hustle award for running it out full speed on their way to first. Lastly, with runners at the corners in the top of the sixth, Mathew Strocchia pulled in the fly ball to second to end another rally and clinch the game. Both teams are getting better every week and they are making fall baseball at Merillon very exciting. Stay tuned for more exciting Brewers baseball next week. I personally can not wait!
