James G. Mc Niece, longtime resident of East Norwich, died peacefully on Oct. 16, 2010 at the age of 87. Mr. Mc Niece was born May 12, 1923 in the Bronx. He was the son of Peter and Anna Mc Niece. He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Evelyn; his children, James (Christina), Wichita, KS, Mary Ellen (Gates) Hawn, Far Hills, NJ, Michael (Janice), Cimarron, KS, Christopher, Oyster Bay, Nancy Blacharski, Sea Cliff; along with seven grandchildren.
Mr. McNiece was a retired cement mason, a Marine Veteran of WWII that included four invasions including Iwo Jima. He enjoyed traveling, golf, reading and most of all family gatherings. Arrangements were made by the Francis P. DeVine Funeral Home, Oyster Bay. A memorial Mass was held at St. Dominic’s Chapel.
