Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto said himself, at the Nov. 9 board meeting, that we live in interesting times.
It is going to be fascinating to see how the year 2010 works out in view of what Nassau County is doing with their no tax increase stance as opposes the Town of Oyster Bay saying they need a 3.5 percent tax increase.
Supervisor Venditto is saying the town’s increase is reasonable and necessary to keep finances on a true track. It is a case of, “he says versus he says”: what the town supervisor says as opposed to what the county executive says.
We think most homeowners consider it best to pay as you go; but there is also the concept of not living over your budget. Whatever – talk about finances anywhere you go this year and you are sure to have a lively conversation.
We truly enjoyed Comptroller George Maragos’ dialogue with members of the East Norwich Civic Association at their meeting, that was attended by many members of the Oyster Bay Civic Association. His candor was refreshing.
