Cathy Zangari Knows Oyster Bay
Cathy Zangari called to identify the mystery picture in the Jan. 13 issue of the Enterprise Pilot. She said, “It’s Raynham Hall.” She is correct.
“I opened the paper and there was Raynham Hall,” said former Town of Oyster Bay Councilman Tom Hogan, Esq. Mr. Hogan was a great asset to Oyster Bay when he was in office. He helped create the Oyster Bay Landmarks Preservation Commission and could always be considered a champion for preservation. Of Snouder’s he said, “I just hope they keep it. It’s a jewel.” Talking about stores in small hamlets, he said, “Downtown is about service.” It is the key thing a small merchant can provide.
Most recently, he has been involved in the Cold Spring Harbor Firehouse Museum. An attorney, his office is located in Locust Valley, where he is also an active participant in their chamber of commerce, a very large and active group.
Jane Jackson and Richard Saks called to identify the mystery photo in the Jan. 6 issue which had taken some time to identify. “It’s the photo of the Oyster Bay Historical Society,” they said correctly.
On Jan. 8 we received a message from Tony Pilla, now of Anniston, Alabama. He wrote, “Hi. Happy New Year to you!
“I have been having a problem getting the mystery picture on my computer. I get the article but the picture does not appear with the story. I was wondering if anyone else has reported this problem or maybe it’s just a glitch in my computer.”
We reported the glitch but on Sunday, Jan. 16 he sent the same message. We checked the Internet meaning to send the pictures to him and found they were not there. We are currently fixing the problem. We sent Tony three missing mystery pictures, and he got back to us.
He said, ‘I got the one of the Wightman House but nothing on the other two.” FYI: it was the painting of Meryl Streep at the Artist Club Gallery – a hard one but it was recognized by Linda Morgan. The other was a schematic of the roof of Raynham Hall Museum. We thought it contrasted nicely with the roof of the Earle-Wightman House.
So that’s the story. We missed emails from Internet readers and were pleased to see it was something we could fix.
Keep reading, and emailing the Enterprise Pilot.
