At the two-day competition on Friday, Jan. 21 the MacArthur boys’ Track and Field team competed at Yale University.
On Friday the boys came out strong finishing in 2nd place in the 4×200 meter relay. The relay consisted of Mike Camacho, Andrei Dinoro, Dan Archer, and Erik Chevez which all ran their best times and broke the school record. They ran a time of 1:33.14, and the old record, which was set in 2010, was 1:33.32.
The same boys ran later in the 4×400 meter relay where they placed 4th. The relay team of Mike Hester, Kenny Balling, Vin Danetti, and Yuri Triglia took 8th in the 4×800 meter relay.
On Saturday, Chevez started the day off with an 8th place finish in the 400-meter race. He was followed closely by his teammate Archer who finished 12th. This was an amazing feat considering there were a total of 153 boys in the event.
Dinoro and Hester also ran very well in their 55-meter dash.
On the distance side the boys did an amazing job with some very quick times in the 3000-meter race. Those boys were Triglia, Sean Aquilino, Balling, Matt Bascelli, and Jo McClean.
