Town of Oyster Bay Holds Line on Golf Fees

It’s a hole-in-one for golfers as the Oyster Bay Town Board voted, for the third consecutive year, to hold the line on memberships at the town golf course, according to Town Supervisor John Venditto.

“With its challenging, yet very playable, holes and its pastoral setting on the grounds of a former estate, the Town of Oyster Bay’s beautiful, championship golf course in Woodbury ranks among the most popular municipal courses on Long Island,” Venditto stated. “I know our members, who are all aware that rates at many surrounding golf courses have been steadily increasing, will be pleased to hear that the town is holding the line on memberships, making our golf course a great value.”

Venditto went on to say that the cost of an individual membership will remain at $175 for residents, $325 for non-residents, $125 for senior residents (60 and older) and $225 for non-resident seniors. As a tribute to town residents who are military veterans or members of volunteer fire departments and auxiliary police units, there will be a special discount fee of $125.

“Our military veterans have helped secure and preserve the freedoms we all enjoy, while on a daily basis, our communities receive invaluable services from both volunteer firefighters and auxiliary police,” Venditto commented. “This is one of the ways the town says ‘thanks’.”

For the eleventh year, the town will operate a “Tee-Time” reservation system. “This system allows town golf course members to reserve tee times up to 30 days in advance,” Venditto stated. “The fee for joining the Tee-Time system is $50 for resident members and $100 for non-resident members.”

The supervisor noted that the town will sponsor leagues for both men and women. A men’s and a women’s weekday league will begin the first week of May and continue through October with the men’s playing on Wednesdays and the women’s on Thursdays, both with a tee-off time of 9 a.m. There will also be a Saturday morning men’s league starting the third week of April and continuing through October for a total of 28 weeks. The Saturday morning league will tee-off at 9:30 a.m.

Leagues are open to town resident golf course members who are also members of the USGA GHIN Handicap System and Tee-Time. Membership for the weekday leagues will be $125 and for the Saturday morning league $325. The membership fee is in addition to the regular golf course membership and does not include greens and cart fees.
