Joe Siciliano Knows Oyster Bay
Joe Siciliano called to say correctly that he knew the location of the March 3 mystery picture in the Enterprise Pilot. He said, “The location is near the post office and Café al Dente in Oyster Bay. Also, the street signs says Shore Road and Spring Street, but I didn’t notice until I looked at the picture again.”
Marg Buffa, a phone friend and a resident of Bayville, called to ID the mystery picture saying, “It’s the Rough Riders heading in the direction of Oyster Babies and the Post Office in Oyster Bay. I always like to see that TR (who created the Rough Rider Troop) is a special person in our town. My daughter was a ranger at Sagamore Hill, his home. There is good news on the home front, our Navy graduate is getting married soon. When it gets closer I’ll give you more information.”
Charlie Schindler called to say, “It’s a parade going across from Town Hall and adjacent to Al Dente, the best little restaurant in Oyster Bay. The building in back is the travel agency on the corner.”
Billy Minicozzi too recognized the TR connection with the horses parading by. He is rooting for St. John’s U Red Storm going all the way in the NCAA tournament.
Belle Santora guessed it was the parade for Theodore Roosevelt or the Fourth of July. We picked the latter, but it is good to see that everyone identifies the Rough Riders with TR. On June 18, Belle will be 100!
So keep on guessing. It’s good for your brain. You can see that Belle is a true inspiration. She has a wonderful positive attitude toward life and has great warmth and charm. It’s good to have her around longer and hopefully longer still!
