North Shore Symphony Orchestra
Currently celebrating its 50th Anniversary, will present a concert at 8 p.m. at Plainview-Old Bethpage JFK High School, 50 Kennedy Dr., Plainview. Focusing on “Drama in Music,” NSSO will perform music of Verdi and Brahms. Conducted by NSSO’s Music Director and Conductor Susan Deaver, the concert will feature violin soloist Anton Polezhayev, NSSO’s Artist-in-Residence, and NSSO principal cellist Jeong-Yoon Park, in a performance of Brahms Double Concerto in A minor for Violin and Cello. Also featured on the concert with NSSO will be the POB JFK High School Chamber Orchestra, Glenn K. Rubin, director. The combined orchestras will perform Alfred Reed’s Festival Prelude. Laughter for Children’s Sake
Variety Child Learning Center will hold its annual “Laughter for Children’s Sake” fundraising event at the Crest Hollow Country Club in Woodbury. The evening, which draws together friends, families and early childhood education professionals will raise money to benefit VCLC’s special education programs for children with developmental disabilities, including autism; support services for their families; and training for professionals in the field. This year, VCLC will celebrate its 45th Anniversary at Laughter for Children’s Sake” which provides guests with comedic acts from television, stage and/or screen, along with dinner, open bar and fabulous silent auction and raffle prizes. Presented by Town of Oyster Bay Chabad. Starring the “Torah Tots” – (Jewish Themed Disney like costumed characters), live in concert.
