Oyster Bay Town Supervisor John Venditto announced that the new, state-of-the-art Hicksville Parking Facility at the corner of Duffy Avenue and Newbridge Road will be open beginning 5 a.m. on Monday, March 21.
“I am pleased that the new Hicksville Parking Facility is ready to open,” Supervisor Venditto said. “I think commuters will find the bright, well-lighted facility, complete with an elevator, security cameras and emergency call boxes, very user-friendly, while the community will find the low-profile, office-like structure more visually appealing and in keeping with the surrounding area than the former parking structure.”
The supervisor went on to say that the new facility, which incorporates energy-saving LED lighting and variable frequency drives (VFDs) for the ventilation system, has two levels below grade, one at grade level and one level above ground and will park approximately 1,440 vehicles – the same as the previous facility.
“After the decision was made to rebuild on the site of the former parking facility, meetings were held with the community to come up with a design that balanced the concerns of local resident with the needs of the commuters,” Supervisor Venditto said. “Many suggestions from residents, including the new low profile, were incorporated into the final design.”
The Supervisor noted that the parking facility is open only to Town of Oyster Bay residents who have a Town of Oyster Bay Commuter Parking Permit. Town of Oyster Bay residents whose permit has expired, or do not have a permit, should contact the Town Clerk’s Office at 624-6324. An application and instructions can be downloaded from the Town’s website, www.oysterbaytown.com.
The hours of operation for the facility will be 5 a.m. to midnight weekdays. Be advised that the entrance into the facility is from Duffy Avenue at the west end of the building. Commuters will be able to exit the facility onto Duffy Avenue both eastbound and westbound and onto Newbridge Road southbound. Commuter parking and shuttle buses at both Broadway Mall and Sears will continue through 9 p.m. Friday, April 1.
