The Farmingdale varsity black roller hockey team under the direction of coaches, Jim Gunn, Pat McDonald, and Gabe Vitale finished in first place during the regular season. Their record was 18 wins, one loss, and an overtime loss for a total of 37 points in the Island wide High School Roller Hockey league.
Their offense scored 124 times and defense gave up only 44 goals. For the first time in quite a while, a Daler roller hockey team finished on top of the entire league and made it to the post-season finals.
The Dalers began the playoffs seeded number one, with a buy in the first round. In the quarterfinal match up against the Jets from East Meadow, they won the contest by the score of 7-3. The semifinal match up was against their platinum division I rivals, the Oceanside Sailors. Farmingdale dominated the game and won by the score of 7-2.
The championship weekend for Farmingdale was against Smithtown who defeated Sachem in the other semifinal bracket by the score of 4-3. The top three teams in the league, Farmingdale, Sachem, and Smithtown, battled each other closely all season long with one goal deciding most games.
The Smithtown Bulls pulled out game one in an exciting closely matched game by the score of 2-1. Daler goalie, Anthony Chille stopped 26 shots on net and the Dalers took 17. In game two, the Bulls had a 4-0 lead going into the final period. The Dalers fought back with goals by Christopher Abel and Christian Letourneau. The momentum began to change for the Dalers, as they played very aggressive. However, Farmingdale just could not find the net during the final minutes and lost the game 6-2 after taking 27 shots on goal. The 2010-2011 Varsity Black team finished the post season as finalists and the regular season in first place.
