Central Nassau Guidance and Counseling Service Annual 5K Runday on May 28

Central Nassau Guidance and Counseling Services will host its 19th Annual 5K Runday event on Saturday, May 28.   

State Assemblyman Michael Montesano will serve as the honorary starter for the 3.1-mile U.S.A. Track and Field sanctioned run. The race begins at 9 a.m. at the starting line in front of Central Nassau’s offices located at 950 South Oyster Bay Road in Hicksville and continues along a track that winds through Hicksville and Bethpage.

The flat course 5K run is open to participants 12 years of age and older. In addition, a Children’s Fun Run course is available for youngsters up to 12 years of age. All Runday participants receive a commemorative Runday T-shirt, free refreshments, computerized finish times and an opportunity to win one of 22 awards, trophies and/or certificates. A variety of raffle prizes add to the excitement of this annual fundraising event that benefits the many programs and services provided by Central Nassau Guidance and Counseling Services, Inc. for persons diagnosed with psychiatric disabilities, substance abuse, developmental disabilities and chemical dependency.

Central Nassau’s 5K Runday event is part of the Long Island Grand Prix series of running events and is supported in part by several corporate sponsors including The Alcott Group, M & T Bank, WBAB and WBLI Radio and Bryan Schilling Landscapers. Central Nassau Guidance and Counseling Services is a comprehensive, not-for-profit community organization whose mission is to provide therapeutic, rehabilitative and support services and housing to people hampered in their functioning by mental illness, developmental disabilities, psychological difficulties, substance abuse and/or chemical dependency concerns. The Hicksville-based organization has been providing clinical treatment, counseling services, residential programs, case management, support services and community outreach programs to an expanding community for 39 years.
