The sun was shinning and it seemed like it was going to be a great day. Then the humidity hit us. Some men were able to play through it but many men started to slow down as they progressed through the round, as shown by the scores. We had 39 men but only 20 pars and Pete Guerra got four of them. There was one birdie by Dave Malle on the par 3, 173-yard, 3rd hole. Seven men shot under par and three shot even par for the round. The next tournament on July 21 will be the second round in our match play tournament. As soon as you get to the park, find out who you will be playing against and sign in together. You must play in the same foursome as your opponent.

Competition on the nine-hole course is divided into two divisions. Flight A is for players with a handicap of 13 or less. Flight B is for players with a handicap of 14 or more. The league is a 100 percent handicap league. Any man who is 55 years of age is eligible.
