Paul Keller Knows Oyster Bay
Paul Keller of Bayville identified the mystery picture in the Sept. 8 issue of the Enterprise Pilot. He said, “It’s the rear of the building on Audrey Avenue and Spring Street. It is opposite Al Dente which is across the street.”
He is correct. The photo was taken the Sunday after Hurricane Irene and shows the water still draining out of the parking lot.
Mr. Keller said he participates in Cruise Night with his 1970 Dodge Challenger that he has had for over 25 years. It is fully restored. When asked if he did the work, he said, “I paid for it… so I guess I did it!”
Billy Minicozzi said the location of the brick building was across from Taby’s which is a good landmark to pick. On a sports note, he is truly happy that football is starting after two months of strikes.
Jack Scheich said, “The mystery picture answer from last week, Sept. 1, from Belle Santora was correct. It is the sign on route 25A by the sump. It is well known to me as it is where the Committee for the Beatification of East Norwich does the Christmas tree lighting. You can see by the hexagon planting area made by Nick DeSantis. The tulips in the photo must be the pink ones the North Shore-East Norwich Rotary planted and which came up this spring.”
Mr. Scheich, president of the CBOEN said he didn’t know the mystery-mystery picture from Aug. 25, but we were happy to get an email from Christopher Benny who did know the location. “It is the bench at Sagamore Hill near the Visitors Center,” said Mr. Benny. Hurrah! All is solved. Great answers from everyone. Thank you to all.
