The St. Kilian team that fell short on their quest for a Spring Championship bounced back to win the 2011 NCT Summer Championship. The St. Kilian Saints came into the championship series as the #2 seed and faced off versus the #1 seed Southshore Express in a best two out of three series.
The Saints behind great pitching from Steve Harris (five innings, one run 9ks) and clutch hitting from Brett Davies, Josh Bradenburg and Harris took game one by a score of 5-3.
Game two saw the Saints commit six errors and blow a solid pitching performance by James Sotis as the Express tied the series at one game each. The final score: Express 9, Saints 7.
Harris would get the start in game three; he shut out the Express for two innings before experiencing some discomfort in his pitching arm and coming out of the game. He returned to the game and made three solid defensive plays at shortstop.
Matt Holmes came on in relief and was outstanding, holding the Express to two unearned runs over the final five innings to seal the victory; Saints 3, Express 2.
