The Hicksville Fire District and Hicksville Water District held commissioner elections on Tuesday, Dec. 13. Scott Skrynecki was elected to the board of fire commissioners and Warren Uss was re-elected as water commissioner.
Uss is a third-generation lifelong resident of Hicksville and has been an active member of the Hicksville Fire Department for 37 years and is Ex-Captain of Emergency Company Five. He has served as chair of many of the department’s committees and is past president of the Hicksville Exempt Association.
Skrynecki is also a lifelong resident of Hicksville. His grandfather, Fred Hasbrouck, was captain for the HFD in the ‘70s. Upon graduating from the University of Delaware with a degree in political science, Skrynecki served as a federal air marshal with the United States Department of Homeland Security and is a New York State certified Hazardous Materials Technician.
Currently, he is a licensed attorney and the director of investigations at the Nassau County Department of Social Services where he specializes in detecting and deterring Medicaid fraud, waste and abuse.
