Peachtree Lane homeowner: ‘Keep an eye out’
Hicksville resident John Blazich recently captured video of a burglar – one whose name will likely be headed for the proverbial naughty list this year – after a man allegedly removed a package from Blazich’s Peachtree Lane home on Dec. 6, according to the homeowner.
Blazich said his wife was expecting a package, which had been confirmed as “delivered” through UPS, which then prompted Blazich to check footage from his home security system.
“I checked the tape and you could see that about two hours after the package was delivered, this guy drove up, took the package and left,” said Blazich, who said the video revealed a white male wearing a backwards black baseball hat and driving dark-colored Kia Soul.
A break-in at Blazich’s home in 2008 was the reason for installing the security cameras. Blazich also said that there were similar incidents on Violet Avenue and other streets in the area, according to police. The homeowner submitted still frames and video of the incident, which police are currently in the process of reviewing, said Blazich.
“Several years ago we had been burglarized, we had an alarm but my wife never felt quite safe,” said Blazich, who noted that he’s able to check the security camera from his cell phone.
“The police had mentioned, if you have the option, of sending something to your office or a neighbor who is always home,” said Blazich.
Blazich said homeowners should “be vigilant and keep an eye out for their own packages” during the holidays to ensure packages and presents make it to their rightful recipients.
