New York Islanders to Salute American Red Cross Month on March 4

March 4 discounted tickets to help raise funds for disaster relief

To help raise awareness and funds for the Red Cross, the New York Islanders will salute American Red Cross Month in March by offering discounted tickets when the team takes on the New Jersey Devils, Sunday, March 4, at 3 p.m. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the disaster relief and lifesaving services of the nonprofit.

Tickets, discounted at 40 percent, are available in:

• Lower VIP End Zone for $50 ($84 value) with $10 per ticket going to the Red Cross.

• End Mezzanine, Rows A-D for $35 ($59 value) with $5 per ticket going to the Red Cross.

Each year, the Red Cross responds to nearly 70,000 disasters across the nation – hundreds right here on Long Island – mainly home fires. This past summer, thousands of Long Islanders turned to the Red Cross during Hurricane Irene for shelter, food and cleanup supplies. Additionally, military members and their families count on the nonprofit agency daily to provide emergency communications and assistance during life-altering moments like the birth of a child or death of a loved one.

Since 1943 every president, from Franklin D. Roosevelt on, has declared March to be American Red Cross Month. During the game, volunteers will be recognized; as well as provide preparedness information to fans.

Tickets can be purchased online at www.newyorkislanders.com/americanredcross or by calling (516) 501-6879. To learn more about the American Red Cross and its work throughout the region, visit www.nyredcross.org.
