William Carr Throws Hat in Ring as Williston Park Village Trustee

(The following is a statement released by William Carr who has announced he is a candidate for a Williston Park Village Trustee at large.)

I, William B. Carr, have been a resident of the Village of Williston Park since 2002. My wife Catherine and I are the proud parents of four children, Liam, Joseph, Veronica and Rusty.

I grew up in Freeport, New York and graduated from Freeport High School in 1992 and served as a volunteer firefighter in the Freeport Fire Department for 6 years.

I received my Associates Degree from Empire State College and have been an electrician with Local Union #3 for 17 years. My involvement through Local Union #3 includes the Catholic Council and the Allied Union Club. My wife is a graduate of Herricks High School, having grown up in New Hyde Park. She graduated from Manhattanville College and holds a Master’s Degree from C.W.Post.

Since moving to the Village, I have served as Committee Chairperson of the Williston Park Cub Scout Pack 311, Assistant Scoutmaster of Mineola Boy Scout Troop 45, Saint Aidans CYO basketball coach, Williston Park Little League coach and soccer coach with MMA. My wife and I are members of the Mineola School District PTA and have been involved in the activities of the Williston Park Recreation Committee.

I’ve enjoyed my involvement in the Village and school district and feel that I have the energy and commitment to help the current board continue to move in a positive direction. Therefore, it is with great pleasure and excitement that I announce my candidacy to run for Trustee in the upcoming Village elections as a member of the Integrity Party.

If elected, I will make educated decisions keeping in mind the best interest of all residents of our Village, and I will:

Work with the other elected officials, local, state and federal to secure grants and cooperative services.

Work hard to encourage continued volunteerism within the Village.

Keep communication lines open with residents

Work with school districts and local municipalities to create cooperative services.

Help me ignite the wonderful possibilities, and make a difference in our Village.
