Walk on Water Film

Temple Beth Elohim, 926 Round Swamp Rd., Old Bethpage, will be showing the movie Walk on Water at 2:30 p.m. The film tells the story of Eyal, an Israeli Mossad agent, who is given the mission to track down and kill the very old Alfred Himmelman, an ex-Nazi officer, who might still be alive. Pretending to be a tourist guide, he befriends Himmelman’s grandson Axel, who is in Israel to visit his sister Pia. The two men set out on a tour of the country during which Axel challenges Eyal’s values. Snacks and coffee/tea will be served. A donation of $2 per person is requested. St. Patrick’s Day Dinner and Auction

Last Hope Animal Rescue is hosting a St. Patrick’s Day Dinner and Auction on from 5 to 8 p.m. at HR Singletons, 150 Hicksville Rd., Bethpage. Tickets are $52 per person; $40 for children 10 years old and under. Dinner includes appetizer, salad, main course and dessert. Join Last Hope Animal Rescue for a fun-filled evening featuring a 50/50 “Pot of Gold,” plus regular, silent and Chinese auctions. All proceeds benefit Last Hope’s foster dogs and cats plus community outreach programs such as Fix-A-Feral. The Road Home

Open general meeting of the Greater LI Running Club will feature a special screening of The Road Home, a 70-minute inspirational documentary. The meeting will be held in the auditorium of the Plainview-Old Bethpage Library, 999 Old Country Rd., Plainview, starting promptly at 8 p.m. The Road Home is about the power of the human spirit. It follows a small group of injured American soldiers – recent amputees from Iraq and Afghanistan. Through the efforts of Achilles International, these men and women regain control of their lives by training for, and eventually crossing the finish line of, the New York City Marathon. The general public is invited to attend. Open seating in the auditorium is available on a first-come first-served basis. Night of Laughter

The Sarah Grace Foundation will host its 9th Annual Night of Laughter benefit fundraiser at the Milleridge Cottage, 585 North Broadway, Jericho. Host Rick Morgan will lead the event, which will feature John Santo, impersonator; Ellen Karis, The Greek Goddess of Comedy FoxTV; Rich Ramirez, HBO-BET, Last Comic Standing; and Pete Michaels of Late Night with Conan O’Brien. The unique evening of entertainment is recommended for mature audiences. The event, which costs $75 per person with advance purchase required, will begin at 7:15 p.m. Admission includes show, dinner, raffles and a big 50/50. Raffle books, which include prizes of a GE Deluxe Wine Center and Walt Disney World park passes and more, are available at a pre-show discount of $25 per book. Casino Night

Temple Chaverim, 1050 Washington Ave., Plainview, is hosting a Casino Night on April 21 from 8 p.m. to midnight. Event Kings/Casino Kings will operate the casino tables that will include blackjack, roulette, craps, a money wheel, slot machines and Texas hold’em. There will also be entertainment in the “Lucky Chai Lounge” hosted by Steven Pinsky. Open to the public. Cost of entry is $75 per person and includes gaming table access, casino money ($150 temple members and $100 nonmembers), desserts and open bar. All attendees must be 18 years or older and at least 21 to enjoy the open bar. Temple Chaverim will also be producing a “Blue & White” pages in conjunction with Casino Night. •March 22: Long Island and the Movies, conducted by Monica Randall, historian and film site scout, sharing her experiences working with film icons like Jack Nicholson, Warren Beatty, Robert Redford and Martin Scorsese. Included in the program will be scenes from: The Godfather, The Great Gatsby, Sabrina and The Age of Innocence.
