Hicksville’s Jill Loveland Excels in 10K Run Event

Congratulations to Jill Loveland of Hicksville, who scored as the second finisher in the Women’s 25-29 Age Group in the 35th annual Nationwide 10 Kilometer Run for ASPIRE, which was held on the roads of Plainview and Old Bethpage on Sunday morning April 1.

Jill crossed the finish line in exactly 50 minutes, a pace of 8:03 per mile, which beat out the third finisher in her age group by 44 seconds.

Another big story of the day was once again the amputee participants, Mike LaForgia and Sarah Reinertsen, who scored with top honors. The host, Greater Long Island Running Club, was thrilled to have ASPIRE’s David Balsley on hand to say a few words about the ASPIRE Program and its goals for the future.

Special thanks and congratulations to GLIRC Race Director Karen Schackner, going solo as the race director for the first time this year and to Tony Wiszowaty of Nationwide Insurance for continuing his support for this event again.

GLIRC was happy to welcome back The Runner’s Edge (Bob Cook), Fairway Market, All Round Foods (Glen Wolther) and Mizuno back again as supporting sponsors and to welcome new sponsor Physical Solutions Physical Therapy and Fitness (Ed Farrell and Chris Lopez).

Special thanks go to the Town of Oyster Bay and its outstanding Parks Department for being part of the Run once again this year, with Diane Ramos and her staff on hand to make sure that everything went well. Oyster Bay Town Councilman Joe Pinto was at the Run to offer their support, along with Nassau County Legislators Rose Marie Walker and Judy Jacobs.
