On behalf of the Levittown Board of Education, I would like to take this opportunity to thank the community for the overwhelming support of this year’s budget, passing it by the widest margin in most people’s memory. We thank you for the renewed confidence you have shown to our central office staff, especially our new superintendent, Dr. James Grossane. We thank you for your continued confidence in your board of education. For two years in a row the open seats have been uncontested.
We have worked hard to earn your trust and confidence. We will not let you, your children or the community down. We are already well prepared for next September’s opening day. With the passage of the budget our students will have largely the same exact programs as last year with technological advancements as well.
Our school district, as are all others statewide, is poised at the intersection of quality education for our children and a 2 percent tax levy cap. It is a difficult intersection to navigate to say the least, but we are prepared to continue to move forward and forge on ahead with the quality of education and top-notch facilities that you have come to know and expect from the Levittown School District. Our plan is to move forward, while at the same time managing expenses with fiscal prudence that has led to several years of lower than average tax increases despite three years of reductions in state aid.
We are by no means out of the woods. The skies are filled with economic storm clouds. Together as a cohesive team, students, taxpayers, administration, labor and your board of education will all work together to see that the excellent educational system in place in our community does not diminish. It can be accomplished by working hand in hand for the common good. It is not something that we should do, but rather it is something that we must do and will do.
Thank you for all of your support.
