Kennedy Memorial Park hosting weekly Sunday event June through November
The Town of Oyster Bay will welcome back the Hicksville Farmer’s Market at Kennedy Memorial Park on Broadway and Jerusalem Avenues, on Sunday June 24, through Nov. 18, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
“There is nothing quite like wandering around a genuine farmer’s market and being surrounded by the sights, sounds, and smells,” Oyster Bay Town Councilwoman Rebecca M. Alesia stated. “In returning for a third year at this location, the Hicksville Farmer’s Market has truly become a location where community revitalization, economic development and a showcase for locally grown farm produce, baked goods and more intersect in the heart of Hicksville.”
Regional producers will be offering fresh products including vegetables, fish, shellfish, herbs, fruits, jams, fresh bread, baked goods, eggs, cheeses, pickles, maple syrup, allergy sensitive baked goods, all natural dog treats and more. Donations will also be accepted for local food pantries.
“We are very excited about the 2012 Farmer’s Market season in Hicksville, and are happy to offer fresh fish and shellfish in addition to all the great produce we have had to offer in the past” Bernadette Martin, director of Friends & Farmers Inc. Long Island produce will be available from Young’s Farm-Glen Cove, Stan-Pat Farmers of Manorville and Carucci Greenhouses of Mattituck.
The Farmer’s Market accepts SNAP/EBT benefits, debit cards, WIC and Senior Checks from the NY State Farmer’s Market Nutrition Programs. The market will be administered by Long Beach based Friends & Farmers Inc. If you would like to schedule a tour, promote your local restaurant or want to play live music at market, please contact Bernadette Martin at info@ligreenmarket.org for more information.
