Meet the Artists Reception

Family Residences and Essential Enterprises, Inc., of Old Bethpage, a not-for-profit agency that supports more than 3,000 individuals with different abilities on Long Island, together with The Lenz Winery, will host a Meet the Artists reception to celebrate a special exhibition created by individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. 5 to 7 p.m. at The Lenz Winery, 38355 Route 25 – Main Road, Peconic. The exhibition which runs until July 31 features two unique, yet related collections called “Revelations” and “Flags of Hope.” Both are being presented as one organized expression reflecting a powerful step on the road to developing the artists’ ability for self regulation, balance and control. Senior Birthday Celebrations

Elder Law Attorney Stephen J. Silverberg announces that the Law Office of Stephen J. Silverberg, PC, has become a sponsor of Nassau County’s Senior Birthday Celebrations. The monthly birthday parties, held at the Old Bethpage Restoration Fairground building, 1302 Round Swamp Rd., Old Bethpage, from noon to 2 p.m., for residents ages 65 and older, were designed to provide Nassau County senior citizens with access to information about services provided by the Nassau County Offices of Aging, Consumer Affairs, Assessment, Health and Human Services, Housing and Social Services. Seniors are invited to celebrate their birthday in the month in which it falls with light refreshments, live entertainment by the Moonlight Serenaders, and games and raffles. Attendees will receive goody bags full of related information along with a free photo identification card.

Miscarriage Support Group

A safe, confidential, supportive environment to talk about what you have been through, reactions and feelings and how to move forward. You are not alone! Facilitated by a professional therapist. Free Veterinary Lectures

Once a month between March and June and September through December, Long Island Cat Fanciers sponsors free lectures given by top local veterinarians on topics relevant to dog and cat owners. All members of the public are welcome to attend. •Family Support Group, an ongoing support group for those who have family members or other loved ones with mental illness. Meets on Mondays from 7 to 8 p.m. at Central Nassau Guidance & Counseling Services, 950 South Oyster Bay Rd. The fee is $5 per family. •Italian Culture Society At Farmingdale meets the last Tuesday of every month at 7:30 p.m. at Ellsworth W. Allen Park, Motor Ave., Farmingdale. Italian lessons are given by a native Italian teacher. •Introduction To Chemotherapy, a monthly information session for cancer patients who are beginning chemotherapy treatments. Family members are welcome. Refreshments served. Nurses with special training, dietitians and other professionals present information that can help individuals understand, and cope with, the effects of chemotherapy treatments. There is also an opportunity to share information with others who may have been through similar situations.
