A Long Island native is among seven young women starring in Gallery Girls, a new reality show documenting the lives of New York City art-world professionals that debuts 10 p.m. Monday on Bravo.
Among those the show follows is Kerri Lisa, who juggles an art internship with her day job at a luxury concierge service that manages the lifestyles of the rich and famous. Viewers will watch as she reaches for the stars and tries to “create a lifestyle brand that marries the two industries,” according to her bio.
“Within the last year and a half I felt like I was losing myself to corporate America,” Lisa told the Press of how that dream came to be. “Sometimes your job just starts to consume you.”
Lisa grew up in Oceanside and Rockville Centre, where her parents always made sure she had the opportunity to immerse herself in the arts, often taking her to visit museums in the city and see Broadway shows.
She graduated from Sacred Heart Academy, an all-girl Catholic school in Hempstead. She trained as a classical pianist and was involved in theater before earning her degree in entrepreneurship from Syracuse University.
Now living in Manhattan, she decided to reconnect with the arts through an internship with Coplan Hurowitz Art Advisory to get a taste of the realities of the competitive art world.
The upbeat blonde landed her role on the show after meeting the show’s casting director through contacts she made networking over the years.
She said she enjoys filming and appreciates “learning about the different interests and artistic perspectives” of her co-stars. After attending an all-girl high school, Lisa feels she can handle any drama without being intimidated by the other women.
“There are many difficult industries in New York, not only those involving the arts. I think that is what will make our experiences on the show so relatable to viewers,” Lisa adds.
Although she is happy in Manhattan, Lisa has not forgotten about her roots. “I am proud to be from Long Island,” Lisa said. She hopes that the show inspires people “to come and take advantage of the resources and art New York has to offer.”
