Holy Family CYO To Aid Hurricane Sandy Victims

Holy Family CYO is proud to sponsor the 4th Annual Tommy O Memorial Basketball Tournament. Tommy O was a New York City firefighter, who died tragically on Dec. 4, 2008. Tommy was also a community activist and very involved in Hicksville youth sports. He was a longtime coach and board member of Holy Family CYO.

The tournament will be played from Dec. 8 to 16. In the past, proceeds from the tournament have been used to fund the Tommy O Scholarship Fund. Scholarships are awarded annually to high school seniors who are alumni of the Holy Family CYO program and who have demonstrated a commitment to community service during their high school careers. Through this scholarship fund, organizers are endeavoring to keep Tommy’s memory alive, especially in the hearts of the scholarship recipients. Hopefully they will be inspired by stories of Tommy’s selflessness, his acts of heroism on 9/11 and his commitment to his family and community. This year, however, the proceeds from the tournament will be donated to Hurricane Sandy relief agencies or directly to affected families.

To further support this endeavor CYO will be posting sponsor signs throughout the Holy Family School gymnasium. Sponsors may choose to have their sign posted for the tournament only ($100) or for the entire basketball season ($250), which runs from now through March 2013. Sponsors also have the option of having their sign displayed prominently on the scorer’s table for the entire basketball season ($500).

In life Tommy touched so many lives. Your donation or sponsorship will enable him to continue touching lives. If you wish to make a donation or purchase a sponsor sign, please make your check payable to Holy Family CYO and in the memo line show “Hurricane Sandy” and mail it to Ed Hebron, 2 Mitchell Court, Hicksville N.Y. 11801.

For further information please contact Ed Hebron at (516) 761-6647 or hebsweb@optonline.net.

Thank you for your support.
