Seniors Enjoy Holiday Party

Entertainment included song and dance

at the Life Enrichment Center

The Life Enrichment Center hosted a party for all senior members of the community to enjoy the holiday season together on Thursday, Dec. 20. The event had a turnout of more than 150 members and staff, and the room was buzzing with excitement and joyful spirit.

The celebration started off with a dance performance by The Sensational Terri’s Tappers, a tap dancing group of women, ages 60 to 85. Terri’s Tappers have been performing at the center for the last 10 years, and do so free of charge.

Miss Terri, dance instructor and previous owner of Miss Terri’s School of Dance, says, “it’s fun and we’re all friends. It’s a great time!”
After the dancers completed their routine and all board members of the Life Enrichment Center were introduced, lunch was served. The kitchen crew had been working hard for four days to have the meal prepared for the attendees. Once lunch was over, member Dan McGowan read a short piece called “If Heaven Had Voicemail,” and Joe Arggiero sang “My Way” by Frank Sinatra.

The Holy Trinity High School Choir of Hicksville, led by Ann-Marie Hoher, performed a holiday medley, both accompanied by piano, as well as a capella. The audience seemed to really enjoy the concert, especially a solo of “O Holy Night” by one choir member, Salvatore Valentinetti. This is the third year that Holy Trinity’s Choir has performed at the center’s holiday party.

Following the choir’s recital, a raffle of an Italian Gourmet Basket was offered to raise money for the center. Tickets were priced at one for $2 or three for $5. Once the winner was announced, John Sant Angelo, president of the center’s board of directors, gave a short speech.

Sant Angelo said, “This center is just a sign of what a wonderful community we have here.”

The event concluded with a special visit from Santa Claus himself, who gave out candy canes to all the members as they went on their way.
