Floral Park resident Conall Ryan and a senior at Kellenberg Memorial High School, recently signed his letter of intent to play football for Mercyhurst University. Ryan and seven of his classmates signed their individual letters of intent, each for various sports and universities, in a ceremony at Kellenberg Memorial.
Ryan played football all four of his years at Kellenberg High School.
His Varsity Football Coach, Mr. John Hannifan, said that Ryan is “One of our best run-defenders,” Hannifan noted that in addition to his defensive work Ryan “also filled in on the offensive this year to help out when we had some injuries in that position.”
Ryan also played lacrosse and was a member of the school newspaper staff in his earlier years at Kellenberg; he also is participates in spring track.
“Their part in athletics is not what defines them,” Athletic Director John Fechtman said. “They have so much more as indicated by all of their other extra-curricular activities.”
