The Freeport Arrows were undefeated in its regular Long Island Amateur Hockey League (LIAHL) season was the first seed in the state playoffs.The Arrows beat Great Neck in the first round to advance to the championship game and beat Suffolk PAL 4-3 to clinch LIAHL
The Arrows went on to win four straight games in the NYS Tournament.They advanced to the championship game against the Cheektowaga Warriors
The game was close with Cheektowaga scoring 10 seconds into the first period. Cheektowaga was up 2-0, but the Arrows then scored four straight goals to end the first period 4-2.
The Warriors came back and tied the game 4-4 in the second period. The game remained tied into triple overtime.
With 3:15 remaining in the third overtime, New Hyde Park resident Albert Markopoulos’ teammate Bobby Oldmixon of Massapequa took a slap shot and scored, winning the game at 5-4.
The Arrows competed in nationals in Hartford, CT. from April 3 to April 7.
