Braves 18, Royals 11
The Dominic’s Deli Braves beat the Royals 18-11. The Braves had their first scoreless defensive inning of the year in the first inning as they got great defensive plays from Michael Paladino, John Stanko and Alan Sikora. Ethan Goldberg had five hits and paced the offense with four runs scored and Bryan Ho added three runs. Alan Sikora led the Braves with four RBIs while Christian Flynn, Taranpreet Kaur and Vincent Woll contributed with three RBIs each.
Reva Energy LLC Royals vs Dominick’s Deli Braves
The Reva Energy LLC Royals squared off Sunday, April 21 against the Dominick’s Deli Braves. Jonathan “Scuitch”Squicarino and A.J. Ponzoled the way with four hits. Bobby Symanski, Angelo Malandruccolo and Charlie Newburg each scored three runs a piece. Sal and Sam Giangrande each had hits. Eddie Dunn, Nicholas Gregory and Andrew McWilliam all had hits and hustled on the base paths.
Virgilio Chiropractic Dodgers vs Reva Energy, LLC Twins
The Virgilio Chiropractic Dodgers played against the Reva Energy LLC Twins on a brisk Sunday afternoon that was also team picture day. Chris Chin and Ryan Wang made some wonderful plays in the field. Damien Chu and Aedan Cotter did a great job behind the plate. Alexander Isopo and Michael Glueck belted good infield hits.
Ethan Vo, Rahil Shah and Myles Brown are making great strides at bat and in the field. Michael Duda hit the ball well showing great form when at bat.
Reds 8, Blue Jays 7
Game four on April 17 saw Notre Dame CYO Sports Merillon Reds take on the New Hyde Park Orthodontics Blue Jays. In another four inning darkness shortened game the Little Red Machine came away with an 8-7 victory. The Reds raised their record to 4-0 for the season.
Paulie DePaulis had two hits, drove in three runs with a home run, scored two runs and stole a base. Rayhan Khan had a breakout game with two hits, two RBI’s a stolen base and a run scored. Adrian Balkcom racked up three hits, stole a base, drove in a run and scored one. Jack Nathan drew two walks, stole a base and scored a run and made a nice play at first. Daniel Goldberg had a single and stole a base. Daniel also pitched a solid inning striking out two and earning his second win of the season. Tyler Silverstein reached base twice scored two runs and stole two more bases.
Stephen Perno walked, scored a run stole a base and drove in a run. Michael Castelli drew another big walk and scored a run. Demetris Panouis got us started by scoring the games first run. Jared Puntus singled, doubled, drove a run and scored one. Martin Lev delivered again with a hit, drove in a run. He also scored a run and stole a base. Christian Zamora got hit by a pitch, which helped keep a four run inning alive. Ben Goodwin singled, drove in a run and stole a base. Ryan Gaudio had a hit and drove in two runs. Ryan also pitched two scoreless innings striking out three. A.J. DeVito pitched an inning, legged out a base hit, scored a run and drove one in.
Reds 7, Pirates 4
Game five on April 20 saw Notre Dame CYO Sports Merillon Reds take on the Island Wide Medical Associates Pirates. In a rematch from opening day, the Little Red Machine played their way to another victory by a score of 7-4. The Reds raised their record to 5-0 for the season.
Adrian Balkcom had a hit, stole a base, and scored a run. He threw out a runner stealing and was dominant on the mound striking out seven in three innings earning his first save of the season. Daniel Goldberg had two hits and was a force on the bases stealing three and scoring a run.
Martin Lev walked, scored a key run and stole a base. Jack Nathan hit the ball on the screws and made a great play on a pop up at first base. Ryan Gaudio pitched a gem to earn his second win of the season. Ryan struck out five including striking out the side in the second inning. Mike Castelli tattooed a ball to left field and was solid in the field. Jared Puntus continued to be a star at the plate with a single, a walk, a stolen base and by scoring a big insurance run.
Tyler Silverstein made solid contact twice and drove in a key run with a great at bat. Ben Goodwin doubled and scored a run while helping to anchor the lineup. Stephen Perno also doubled, drove in a run and provided great support to the top of the lineup.
Demetris Panouis continues to get on base and scored what turned out to be the game winning run. Rayhan Khan continued to work hard at the bat and almost made a great catch in the outfield. A.J. DeVito drew two walks and scored the games first run. A.J was also solid in the field. Paulie DePaulis singled, stole two bases and drove in the game winning run. Paulie made a great catch in left field preventing a possible big inning.
AHLL Angels vs. New Hyde Park Elks Diamondbacks
The Diamondbacks and Angels battled it out at Herricks Ball Field to a sellout crowd. The Diamondbacks were able to get on the board in the 1st inning due to excellent base running by James Prado and Ryan Wasserman. The Diamondbacks found themselves in a 6-2 hole after the Angels only batted twice. The Diamonds fought back in the second inning putting up 2 runs thanks to a two run single by Sahil Gandhi. Kenny Hirschfield then pitched a strong inning to hold off the mighty Angels bats. In the bottom of the third the Diamondbacks had an offensive explosion, after a leadoff walk by Jon Zebitsch, Jack Kareff then hit a monster homerun to tie the game. James Prado then immediately followed with a homerun of his own. After two walks, Christopher Gould drilled a hard single threw the right side that brought home 2 more runs. Ryan Wasserman then closed out the game striking out the final two batters. The Angels played a great game and were tough competitors.
