Gregory Allen Race, 53, of Charlotte, NC, passed away on Tuesday, June 11, 2013, at Levine & Dickson Hospice House at Southminster. Visitation was held at Calvary Church in Charlotte. Interment at Magnolia Memorial Gardens at Calvary Church.
Gregory was born on March 19, 1960, in Freeport. Son of Marilyn Race and the late Douglas Race. Gregory attended Helen Keller School for the Blind and was a long time resident and fixture in the Village of Oyster Bay and Cove Neck, NY. Gregory loved spending time with family, especially his nieces and nephews, swimming, talking sports and current events, watching television and ball games (especially the Mets).
He was a loving son, brother, uncle and friend to all and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Survivors include his beloved mother; Marilyn Race; sister, Susan Blumenthal and husband Jay; brother, Jeffrey Race and wife Corinne all of Charlotte; two nieces, five nephews, three great-nephews, other family members and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials should be made to the Metrolina Association for the Blind, 704 Louise Avenue, Charlotte, NC 28204.
